V.J. Wilkins
was a great supporter of the Arkansas City Public Library and the Ark City community in general. She demonstrated her support through action and made several generous donations over the years to the Arkansas City Public Library. V.J. was active in the Women’s Golf Association at the Arkansas City Country Club, a member of Junior Service League and several bridge clubs. She was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church, served on the Board of Directors for the Arkansas City Area Arts Council, the board of the Campfire Girls, and the Via Christi Foundation Board. She was also a member of the Arkansas City Rotary Club.
Delta Kappa Gamma Society
The Arkansas City Delta Kappa Gamma Society sponsored subscriptions each year to Education Digest and Ranger Rick.
Soroptimist of Arkansas City
The Soroptimists have donated to Summer Reading and Children’s programs.
Cox Communications
Cox donates annually to the Summer Reading Program.
General Electric and GE Volunteers
These organizations have both donated to the Summer Reading Program.
ACHS Class of 1944
In 1995, the Arkansas City High School Class of 1944 donated $500 for books to add to the Library’s collection.
ACHS Class of 1942
In 2005, the Arkansas City High School Class of 1942 donated $1,261.70 for books to add to the Library’s collection.
IUE-CWA Local 1004
The IUE-CWA made a generous donation of $500 toward children’s programming in 2012.
Wal-Mart
Wal-Mart made a donation of $1,800 in 2004 to community literacy and youth programming.
