The Arkansas City Public Library gratefully acknowledges every gift. We have listed here some recent memorials to the Library. A memorial plaque in the Library recognizes those who have given gifts of $1,000 or more. Please contact the Director at 620-442-1280 or firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any questions about creating a memorial to a loved one or a beloved pet.
Mrs. Janice Allen
began a valuable tradition of offering story times at the library. We continue to offer this service, and have expanded it to include children who attend local pre-schools and day-care centers. After Janice’s death, her family continues to make generous donations to the Library. These funds were used to purchase books and programming materials. So many books have been purchased in her memory and so many children have benefited from the service she began, that we have named the picture book room ‘Nana’s Room’ in her honor.
served the Arkansas City area for many year as aneducator and School Library Media Specialist. She was active in many community boards and organizations; including 4-H, the Denton Art Center, the Walnut Valley Festival, PrairieFest, and First United Methodist Church. Lin passed away in fall 2009, having designated the Arkansas City Public Library as a recipient of memorial funds. With the help of her husband Dan, the Library chose to use these funds to purchase an early literacy computer station. This computer provides children with the opportunity to learn computer skills in a safe environment while practicing reading, math, and other subjects.
Donald R. Patterson, Jr. and Wilda L. Patterson Trust
In 2005, the Patterson’s Trust was left to the Library to purchase large print books for patrons.
